For those sailing in the Eastern Mediterranean, the add-on package offers extended exploration of Venice before or after the cruise with select MSC ships departing from Marghera-Venice or Athens with Opera ship departing from Piraeus-Athens. For travelers embarking on Western or Eastern Mediterranean cruises, looking to explore the capital city of Rome, the offer is linked to select MSC ships departing from Civitavecchia (Rome). “MSC Cruises, always seeking to reduce the environmental impact of its ships quickly and significantly, has accepted a significant cost premium to improve the energy efficiency of these new ships which, according to the IMO’s EEDI index, will emit 50% less CO2 than the IMO’s 2008 benchmark,” Castaing confirmed. These and other innovations improve the vessels’ energy efficiency and ensure they are operating as sustainably as possible, which is critical for MSC Cruises to meet its environmental goals.

The ship -- which will be a sister to MSC World Europa and MSC World America -- will presumably be based in Asia. Few details are known yet about MSC World Asia, which officially began the construction process with a celebratory event at the Chantiers de L'Atlantique shipyard booth at Seatrade. Cliffhanger will be part of Family Aventura, one of seven districts on the 2,614-stateroom ship. The area also features The Harbor, an outdoor park area with a high ropes course, a playground inspired by the lighthouse at the line’s private Bahamas destination Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve and more. Couples, families or groups of friends can choose itineraries containing multiple must-see destinations. From there, riders are propelled back and forth, high above the waterline and dangling 50m above the ocean below. The one-of-a-kind, edge-of-your-seat thrill ride will have guests feeling the wind in their hair as their view oscillates between the water below and the sky above.MSC World America is set to become MSC Cruises’ newest U.S. flagship when she is named at PortMiami on April 9, 2025.
MSC World America News: Cliffhanger Thrill Ride to Debut on New Ship
MSC Cruises revealed its summer 2025 itineraries for the North American market, featuring four ships sailing from U.S. homeports. Travelers can choose from various vacation options, with departures from New York City, Miami, and Port Canaveral visiting destinations in the Caribbean, Florida, The Bahamas, and Bermuda. Many itineraries include visits to MSC Cruises’ private island, Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve. Guests booked on the impacted sailings have the unique opportunity to easily rebook on one of MSC Cruises’ first sailings from the U.S. on MSC Meraviglia and MSC Divina, open for sale on June 16, 2021, or on the brand new MSC Seashore, arriving to Miami this November. Guests impacted by these cancellations — and who have paid in full and booked through MSC Cruises USA or affiliated U.S.-based travel advisors — will be offered a 100 percent future cruise credit (FCC) of the original cruise fare and up to $200 onboard credit, depending on the length of the original cruise.
Around 70% of our Protectours now include low impact transportation—including walking, cycling or kayaking—and many make a direct contribution to the environment by supporting species or habitat protection. For instance, more electric and hybrid shuttle buses are being used for guests to shuttle from ports to places of interest in Denmark, Finland, Norway, Spain and Sweden with MSC Cruises aiming to increase the utilization of green ground transportation in the future. Hybrid Exhaust Gas Cleaning Systems (EGCS) are installed on most ships in the fleet, which reduce sulphur oxide (SOx) emissions by 98%. Selective Catalytic Reduction Systems (SCRS) are installed on the newest ships, which reduce nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions by up to 90%. In addition, all LNG-powered ships will immediately solve the issue of NOx emissions to the same level as achieved through the SCR, thus constituting another significant advantage of LNG versus traditional fossil maritime fuel. GENEVA, Jan. 19, 2023 /PRNewswire/ -- MSC Cruises, the contemporary brand of the Cruise Division of MSC Group, launched a new global brand campaign today meant to educate consumers on the importance of sustainable vacationing and the critical role sustainability will play in the company's future.
